January 14, 2026 A man was shot in the leg by a federal immigration agent in north Minneapolis on Wednesday night, marking the second ICE-related shooting in a week. The man suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital. At this point, both the BCA and FBI are investigating.

Several hundred protesters gathered at the scene, facing off with agents who blocked off the area and used smoke and other crowd control weapons. More than a dozen flash bangs were deployed at protestors across at least three different nearby intersections. It wasn't just ICE deploying chempicals. Rod Adams said MPD used pepper sprayed and flash bangs on him for simply asking them to lead the community.

"
I don't know what the fuck is that gonna take to get ICE out of here, but the Governor, the Mayor— it's not working, and if it's not working, the community is gonna take care of it. There's only so much longer people gonna take this shit," said Rod. "What happened to the separation agreement? This shit is sad. And like I said, if the politicians can't do anything, the people will. The people will."

Mayor Frey called the continued presence of ICE in Minneapolis “not sustainable” and urged calm amid escalating tensions.

"This is not creating safety. I've seen conduct from ICE that is disgusting and intolerable. If it was your city, it would be unnacceptable there too," said Frey. "But we cannot counter Donald Trump’s chaos with our own brand of chaos. Anyone who is taking the bait tonight, stop."

A family reported injuries to multiple children who were in a vehicle at the time a flash bang was deployed including an infant child who needed CPR after she stopped breathing. The flash bangs were so powerful it caused the air bags to deploy.
