Remembering Justin “DJ Juice” Marshall: A Life Cut Short by Violence

ree

On what should’ve been his 37th birthday, Justin Marshall was tragically shot and killed while biking home in Minneapolis in the early morning hours of July 25 near Franklin Avenue and Lyndale Avenue South. No arrests have been made.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department, officers responded to a 911 call around 2:30 a.m. and found Justin suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. First responders began CPR before transporting him to Hennepin Healthcare Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The suspect — described only as a man seen speaking with Justin before exiting a vehicle and opening fire — fled the scene.

“We are actively investigating and following all leads to uncover what led to this senseless killing,”said Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara.

Those who knew Justin, lovingly known as DJ Juice, say he was a source of energy, laughter, and generosity. He was a familiar face at Kowalski’s, where he proudly competed in the Fastest Bagger Competition. Family says he had a magnetic personality that drew people in, and many recall his presence at Tailgate Sports Cafe, where his smile and sense of humor were as unforgettable as his playlists.

“He lived life fully and made everyone around him smile,” said his family in a heartfelt public statement. “He created art and spread joy with music and laughter wherever he went.”

How to Help

A fundraising campaign has been launched to cover funeral and burial costs, medical expenses, and legal support as they push for justice. “Every contribution helps lighten the heavy load we are carrying in the wake of this senseless tragedy,” the family shared.

Those with information about the shooting are urged to come forward.
