CAIR-MN reports it has received a firebomb threat.

According to a statement from the Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the anonymous threat was made through an online submission form.

The author of the threat demanded CAIR-MN Executive Director Jaylani Hussein retract a statement he made earlier this month, in which he welcomed bias charges against a woman who reportedly assaulted a Somali man in Waite Park.

According to CAIR-MN, the message read “Retract this statement, and acknowledge that the work you do is absurd, or you and your offices will be firebombed next Saturday.”

“As an organization that has successfully defended the civil rights of the American Muslim community and promoted justice for decades, we are neither surprised nor intimidated when anti-Muslim bigots lash out at us with threats of violence,” Hussein said in a statement to the press.

CAIR-MN is asking local, state and federal authorities to investigate the threat.
